Position Title Teacher Aide, Educare
Job Duties

Teaching Duties include the care, safety, and well being of all children in the group. Assist in carrying out activities that teachers have planned for the classes. Helping children learn to adapt to and cope with real life situations. Assist in keeping the environment organized. Expressing respect for children at all times. Participating in center activities. Demonstrating as a role model for the children, volunteers and parents. Continuing education and learning about the young child. Overseeing children’s play. Maintaining a safe, clean and pleasant environment.
Staff Participation includes participation in staff meetings and ongoing training regarding program, children and parents.
Parent/Community Relations include working effectively with parents. Communicating with parents.

Qualifications

Required knowledge and skills

Increasing understanding of young children and their development. Ability to be a role model for young children. Ability to apply an understanding of developmental levels to activities. Comfortableness in interacting and caring for children. General knowledge of nutrition, health, and first-aid. Willingness to accept supervision. Special ability to adapt quickly to new situations and new children. Willingness to read, to learn and to increase understanding of child development through workshops and study.

Required experience

Prior experience working with a variety of ages of young children.

Additional Requirements include good health as confirmed by physician within the past year prior to the first day of employment. Health assessments are required to be updated every two years.
Tuberculosis free.
Annual KBI clearance.
Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 100 pounds.
Frequent stooping and bending.
Frequent walking and standing.
Adhere to NAEYC accreditation standards.
Possess certificate (or obtain within 30 days of hire):
1. First Aid training and Adult, Child and Infant CPR.
2. Child Abuse and Neglect with head trauma
3. Basic Child Development
4. Safe Sleep Practices

Required educational background

Working towards Associate degree in child development or its equivalent (30 credit hours of early childhood classes) preferred. Minimal six credit hours in child growth and development/early education related classes or its equivalent.
