Position Title Director of Public Safety
Job Duties

The Director of Public Safety shall be responsible to the Vice-President of Student Services for providing twenty-four hour security at the Butler of El Dorado campus and coordinating the security needs of other Butler Community College locations. In this role, the Director of Public Safety/Chief of Campus Police will be responsible for supervising all security personnel maintaining all reports required by the Department of Education as required by the Campus Security Act and the Student-Right-To-Know, attend required State Certified training, and to provide training for Public Safety staff, College personnel, and students in accordance with the Crisis-Management Plan.

Qualifications

Required knowledge and skills

Excellent communication skills. Maintain certification as a Kansas Law Enforcement Officer (LEO). Knowledge of investigative procedures and security operations. Must be certified in CPR and first aid. Valid Kansas drivers license. Possess, or ability to learn computer skills to send and receive e-mail and prepare documents using word processing and spreadsheets.

Required experience

Supervisory experience required. Five years of law enforcement experience or combination of law enforcement and military experience. Police academy or equivalent law enforcement training.

Required educational background

Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
